Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
