Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
