Dive Into this Revamped Legendary Adventure: This Free Demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Lands Soon.

Enthusiasts looking forward to the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. A free-to-play playable preview is set to become available on January 7th, granting a sizable glimpse into the game's opening hours. Critically, all progress made within this demo can be carried over directly into the full game upon its February release.

More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Complete Transformation

This title is a comprehensive reimagining of the iconic year 2000 JRPG, originally titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant step away from other series re-releases, like the previously released HD-2D iterations, this remake embraces a unique 3D aesthetic. The world have been crafted to look like detailed miniature worlds, with protagonists sporting a delightful chibi-esque appearance.

"Taking into account the 3DS version, the story was remained quite extended. Therefore, we reached a conclusion that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this adventure for modern players."

Key Mechanical Enhancements & Updates

Square Enix have introduced several modernizations to streamline the original experience. Among these are:

  • Streamlined Field Encounters: Inspired by modern role-playing games, low-level enemies can now be dispatched instantly on the field without initiating a full traditional combat screen.
  • Adjustable Battle Speed: Players can speed up combat animations to quickly power through simpler fights.
  • Expanded Vocation Mechanics: One completely new job class was introduced for this reimagining. Additionally, party members now have the ability to take on a secondary job, significantly expanding customization depth.

Such changes seek to address one of the original game's most noted criticisms: its daunting scope. That original adventure was known to take over 100 hours to see through. This new version has been specifically reworked to enhance progression and cut down on any repetition.

Save the Calendars: Demo & Full Launch Details
