Combatants smirk as they travel on the back of a transport truck, speeding alongside a row of nine corpses and heading in the direction of the setting African evening sky.

"Look at this extensive work. Observe this mass destruction," a fighter shouts.

He smiles as he directs the camera on his person and his associate fighters, their paramilitary badges visible: "These people shall all die like this."

The combatants are celebrating a massacre that relief organizations fear killed in excess of 2,000 individuals in the Sudanese urban center of the Darfur city last month.

A City Severed from the World

Having held the city under siege for almost 24 months, from the summer the RSF proceeded to reinforce its control and blockade the remaining civilian population.

Satellite images reveal that fighters commenced to construct a massive sand wall - a built-up dirt embankment - surrounding the boundaries of the city, sealing off entry points and blocking humanitarian assistance.

As the siege escalated, seventy-eight individuals were killed in an RSF strike on a mosque on September 19th, while the international organization reported fifty-three additional were murdered in unmanned aircraft and cannon strikes on a displacement camp in October.

Explicit Recording Depicts Weaponless Civilians Gunned Down

By sunrise on late October the RSF conquered the final army strongholds and captured the main compound in the city, the command center of the 6th Infantry Division, as the army retreated.

Among the most disturbing recordings to emerge and studied revealed the aftermath of a mass killing at a campus structure on the west of the community, where scores lifeless forms were seen scattered over the floor.

An older man dressed in a traditional garment was seated isolated amongst the corpses. The man looked to gaze as a fighter armed with a weapon proceeded down the staircase in the direction of the victim. Raising his rifle, the gunman fired a solitary shot at the victim, who fell to the floor still.

"How come is this person yet breathing," a militiaman cried. "Shoot this person."

Satellite images captured on late October appeared to confirm that shootings were also performed on the roads of the city, as reported by a report released by the university analysis team.

One observer who communicated reported he had observed "numerous of our family members being massacred - these individuals were assembled in a single location and each one killed."

RSF Commanders Attempt to Implement Public Relations

Following the events that ensued from the massacre, militia chief admitted that his forces had perpetrated "wrongdoings" and said the incidents would be looked into.

Included among arrested was subsequent to a investigation documenting his executions. Deliberately choreographed and modified footage published on the RSF's formal messaging platform reveal the individual being taken into a prison room at a jail on the edges of al-Fashir.

Simultaneously, the RSF and connected digital channels began seeking to reshape the narrative.

Updates depicting its combatants distributing assistance to inhabitants were circulated by some users, while the paramilitary's public relations unit shared several clips allegedly to demonstrate the compassionate handling of government prisoners of war.

Regardless of the digital effort being employed by the paramilitary, their activities in el-Fasher have provoked international anger.
